Why your low prices are dangerous

From Jerry Potter's Lab

Does talking about pricing make you uncomfortable?

It did for me - for a long time.

"I keep my prices low so I can help as many people as possible!'

Wanting to help as many people as possible is still 100% true for me. And I also enjoy that I can release 90% of my content for free and still earn a great living from people who want to invest to go deeper with me.

But when our prices are too low, people often assume our offers won't be any good.

And people don't want the cheapest or free, they want the best.

Keep reading to see the proof behind that...

Sponsored by The YouTube-iest Week Ever!

I'm teaching a brand new workshop for online entrepreneurs, all about developing a YouTube strategy for 2025.

You'll learn the exact strategies to having a YouTube channel that grows your audience, generates consistent leads, and sets your business apart - without spending hours figuring it out on your own.

It's 5 quick but powerful lessons starting February 10th, and we quietly opened the doors yesterday and had over 40 people sign up right away!

You can join us for only $10 by getting your ticket this week (or buy it later for more).

Proof People Will Pay More

One of the members in my Done By Lunch Mastermind launched his first membership for $47/month.

And despite having lots of experience, success and a popular podcast, he struggled to get anyone to sign up!

He ended up revamping the membership and introducing it a few months later at $199/month, almost four times more expensive, and got more members than he ever imagined.

When it was $47, people assumed it couldn't possibly be any good! But at $199/month it MUST be good. 🤷🏻‍♂️

(Prices obviously vary from industry to industry - his was an industry where things generally cost more).

Here's more proof...

Once upon a time, the top searches for almost any category on Google included the word "free."

"free _____ plan"

"free ______ course"

But starting in July 2017, "best" overtook "free" in search results.

People want the best. And are often willing to pay for it.

The more we can focus on showing people that our offer is the best opportunity for them, the better!

Are you doing everything you can to convey the value of your offer?

BEHIND THE SCENES 👀

For $10 it can't be any good, right?

As I wrote this week's newsletter, it wasn't lost on me that I'm talking about charging more so people perceive your offer as valuable...

...all while selling a YouTube workshop for $10. 😆

Normally this kind of training would be a free workshop, but as I told my coach, if I teach something for free I feel like I have to hold back, but if I charge for a workshop then I don't!

She agreed, and if you want a YouTube strategy for your business that will work in 2025, click here and grab your early bird ticket for only $10 (price does go up next week).

Sending you a digital high-five! ✋

For Growth AND Freedom I wore a bathrobe on stage yesterday at the Social Media Marketing World conference in San Diego... Jerry Potter wearing a bathrobe on stage at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego, California. And apparently it was persuasive because numerous attendees told me they've decided to launch a podcast for their business and put it on YouTube. (FYI the bathrobe did serve a purpose, but I shave to wait until next week's newsletter to share why). If you're curious to learn...

"How am I supposed to sell when it feels like the world is on fire?" A friend asked me that very blunt question last week, and I've been thinking about it ever since. In fact, this isn't the email I was going to write today - but I think it's so important to talk about this. The way to look at this that I'm going to share applies no matter what the chaos is - whether it's politics in the US, people recovering from Cyclone Alfred in Australia, or even if the chaos is in your personal life.
